School day #2

It was really fun at school again today! We had a fun swimming class and I wrote in kanji which surprises my family! I love the kids and teachers at school! They’re so nice^^ It’s so funny how excited the school gets when there’s a new student! Everyone says hi to me.
Once again, I’m super tired :p
So until next time,

Day 2 of Japan

Today I went for a walk/run at the park, met with the principal of the school I’m going to attend, and went to the mall. There was even an earthquake after I ran! Nothing super exciting happened today, but tomorrow’s my first day of school! Kinda anxious about it and how it’s gonna go…
Until next time,
Madison :p

First day in Japan! Right now it is about 11:40 pm and today is July 2nd. As you can see, the flight today was super long. The food was not great, but it was only two meals (and we had snacks-including ice cream! Yummmmmy) I’m pretty beat right now because I couldn’t sleep well on the plane :p
So until next time,

P.S. X&O’s to mom and dad!

FIRST blog

I’ve never written a blog before.  Nor have I felt the need to.  Who wants to read about what I do everyday on a daily basis?  Nobody I can think of…  But, now I feel I have a reason to.  On Sunday, July 1, 2012, I will be flying from JFK International Airport (NY) to Narita Airport (Japan).  Not only is the plane ride from NY to Japan 14 hours, but I’ll also be flying alone.  Keep in mind that I am only 14 years old.  At the moment, I am actually not too scared.  If anything, I’m somewhat excited…and nervous.  The vacation is going to last seven weeks and during those seven weeks, I have a few things planned to make the trip even more exciting.  Yet, in the back of my mind, what am I most nervous about?  Being HOMESICK.  I’m not nervous at all about the language barrier (I do not speak fluent Japanese), or the fact that, as I will get to in a later post, I will be attending school, OR even the fact that I am flying to a country alone.  Nope, I am worried about missing home.  Seven weeks without my mom and five weeks without my dad is a really long time!  I think that the amount of time I’ll be away will really sink in when I arrive in Japan.  Or even worse, right after our goodbyes when I finally have to leave them.  Thankfully, we have phones, skype, Facetime, and Facebook to communicate during the trip.  Honestly, though, I believe it will be an amazing experience.  It will be like nothing I have never done and I think it may even help me grow as a person.  I’m so, so, so, so, soo excited to experience a different culture and for such a long time.  Yes, I have been to Japan before, I was even born there!  But, still, being alone without my dad translating every conversation for me, and always being there when I need someone to talk to, will show me what it would be like going to a country alone.  I hope that this experience will make me appreciate Japan even more than I already do, and learn even more about my Japanese culture.

Well, I hope that you have a slight idea about some of my thoughts on this trip, now!  I will post as much as possible about my awesome experiences during this AMAZING trip!

Until next time,

Madison :)
